Being a real car enthusiast, I wasn’t a fan of Ferrari’s launch last week of its first electric vehicle, the Luce. It wasn’t the move to electric that bothered me, as the company was probably going to get there eventually. It was the sense that the EV debut came bundled with a broader identity reset, as if it felt that it needed to become something else in order to move forward. This reminds of the saying that it’s OK to borrow ideas, but you should never borrow another identity.
