Interview

What was your first job as a journalist?

You're looking at it!

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes! Both the clicky clacky and the whirr whirr electric ones.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

Being honest with your reader. Imagine they bought a gadget based on your insight. What would they say to you?

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Lots of SEO stuff - but for writing just Grammarly.

What's your favorite social network?

Right now, TikTok. Sorry.

Why did you become a journalist?

Stumbled into it! Studied an MA History and just learned how to write and make concise assessments and arguments!

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Just write. Don't use automated outreach and remember - everyone is human. Even the person following up for coverage.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Early. I mean a couple of days before you need it.

What's the best pitch you ever got?

Refurbed.ie - launching in Ireland on Paddy's Day with a sustainable message. Brilliant.

What's your favorite drink?

Either a tidy Double IPA or a dram of Ardbeg Islay Whisky.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

On the couch. I'm a total potatoe.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

T3 probably.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

That we give positive reviews for everything. We tend to stumble upon the best tech because we only to genuine hands-on reviews.
