What was your first job as a journalist?

I wrote obits for the Patriot Ledger. I still think obits are important.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Of course!

How is social media changing news?

Everything is news with social media -- and it's immediate. It's exciting and scary.

What's your favorite social network?

Love Twitter (am I showing my age?!)

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Don't give up on the field. Journalism is more exciting now than ever and there is so much opportunity to shine. We are all multi-media now!

When's the best time to pitch you?

Early mornings -- I'm at best right after the sun rises (and I've had a couple of cups of coffee!)

What's your favorite drink?

Sparkling water with lime. I enjoy the bubbles!

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Outside -- hiking, running or at Griggs Farm in Billerica with my camera in hand. Being outdoors energizes me!
