House and Senate in 1919, and had been slowly making its way through the state legislatures. On August 26, 1920, Tennessee was the 36th state to approve it, and the last one needed for ratification. As the country prepared for the national elections in November, on Sept. 7, Florida Secretary of State H. C.

Tallahassee got off to confusing Daylight Savings Time start in 1918

Mary Cathrin May Special to the Tallahassee Democrat On Tuesday, March 19, 1918, in the middle of World War I, President Woodrow Wilson signed into law Daylight Saving Time which took effect on March 31. Referred to as “fast time” or “war time,” Daylight Saving Time (DST) required households to set their clocks forward one hour on the last Sunday in March and then turn them back one hour on the last Sunday in October.
