Use of Next Generation Sequencing to Define the Origin of Primary Myelofibrosis

Abstract : Simple Summary The cell of origin (a stem cell) of primary myelofibrosis (PMF) is still partially unknown. We used next generation sequencing to explore this aspect of PMF pathobiology deeper. We found evidence that higher progenitors (i.e., pluripotent stem cells) harbor genetic lesions found in PMF cells. However, genetic events can also occur in later stages of differential contribution to disease development and progression.
