The 2026 FIFA World Cup starts on June 11 with games set to be played across Mexico, Canada and the U.S., with two major Texas cities set to host international fans this summer, starting June 14. Houston is set to host its first of seven games in mid-June and is host to a Round of 16 game in early July, while Dallas will host nine games, including a semi-final game in mid-July.

What to know about medical treatments for New World Screwworm in pets

June 11, 2026, 1:23 p.m. ET The New World screwworm has made its way into Texans' and New Mexicans' lives, as the states have confirmed several cases with the U.S. Department of Agriculture over the past two weeks. There are seven confirmed cases in the U.S. as of 9 a.m. on June 11: six in livestock in Texas and one in a dog in New Mexico. The dog resides in Lea County, New Mexico, but was originally examined and reported in Andrews County, Texas, by a veterinarian on June 8.

Texas widens New World screwworm quarantine areas after new cases Original

June 11, 2026, 12:11 p.m. ET Texas has placed parts of seven counties under quarantine to restrict animal movement to help combat the growing number of New World screwworm cases in the state. The Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) Executive Director Lewis Dinges placed parts of Gillespie, Kerr, Kimble, La Salle and Webb counties under animal movement restrictions on Tuesday, June 9, after cases were confirmed in Gillespie and La Salle on June 8.
