Mateo Sánchez Morales is a bilingual nonbinary Latinx writer and organizer living in the SF Bay Area. Originally from L.A., their writing is largely influenced by their experiences as a trans person of color from a mixed status immigrant family. Their work has appeared in Flowers of Ancestry, an anthology of trans and queer writers in the Bay Area, as well as Wear Your Voice, an intersectional feminist media publication committed to deconstructing mainstream media’s approach to news and culture…

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes! I inherited a typewriter and used it for years. I recently was gifted a typewriter and I'm excited to use one again!

How is social media changing news?

Social media has blurred the lines between credible journalism and personal opinion, often prioritizing sensationalism over depth and accuracy. While it’s democratized the sharing of information, giving marginalized voices a platform, it’s also fueled the spread of misinformation. Ultimately, social media hasn’t changed the core purpose of news—it’s just made the fight for truth louder and more chaotic.
