An additional water is introduced into the manganese cluster during the formation of the S 3 state of photosystem II
Abstract During photosynthetic water oxidation, the Mn4Ca cluster in Photosystem II progresses through five intermediate Si (i = 0–4) states. X-ray crystallography studies have reported the insertion of one new O ligand during the formation of the S3 state, but recent studies question the presence of this additional ligand based on cryo-EM and earlier room-temperature crystallography data.
Ultrafast surface melting of orbital order in La0.5Sr1.5MnO4 - Nature Materials
Abstract Understanding how light modifies long-range order in quantum materials is key to improving our ability to control functionality. However, this is challenging if the response is heterogeneous. Here we address the most common form of light-induced heterogeneity—surface melting—and measure the dynamics of orbital order in the layered manganite La0.5Sr1.5MnO4. We isolate the surface dynamics from the bulk by measuring the orbital truncation rod and orbital Bragg peak.
AI-Driven Analysis of Wrist-Worn Sensor Data for Monitoring Individual Treatment Response and Optimizing Levodopa Dosing in Parkinson’s Disease
Submitted: 18 September 2025 Posted: 19 September 2025 You are already at the latest version Parkinson’s Disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder marked by motor fluctuations that complicate treatment with levodopa. Traditional approaches to dosing are often inadequate for capturing the complex and dynamic nature of these fluctuations. In this study, we present a novel algorithm for continuous motor state monitoring based on data from a wrist-worn inertial measurement unit sensor.
Non-equilibrium dynamics of spin-lattice coupling - Nature Communications
Abstract Quantifying the dynamics of normal modes and how they interact with other excitations is of central importance in condensed matter. Spin-lattice coupling is relevant to several sub-fields of condensed matter physics; examples include spintronics, high-Tc superconductivity, and topological materials. However, experimental approaches that can directly measure it are rare and incomplete.
