Thanks to Hall of Famers Mickey Cochrane and Bill Dickey in the 1920s and ’30s, Yogi Berra in the ’50s and Joe Mauer in the 2000s, the lefthanded-hitting catcher has never completely gone out of style. But their numbers have ebbed and flowed over time. Last season, there were three lefthanded-hitting catchers—Drake Baldwin, Austin Wells and Bo Naylor—who would qualify as “regulars” based on them batting at least 400 times. In 2022 and 2023 there were zero lefty-hitting regular catchers.
