Audiobooks Exploring American History
In November 1919, President Woodrow Wilson marked the first commemoration of Armistice Day with these words: To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country's service and with gratitude for the victory. More than a century later, one way to continue honoring those who have served in the armed forces is to listen to their stories.

Review: James Patterson peeks into 'The Secret Lives of Booksellers and Librarians'
I'll never stop wondering how James Patterson supposedly cranks out so many books (he has nine more scheduled for this year). But at least I can see how the prolific wordsmith worked "The Secret Lives of Booksellers and Librarians," co-written with Matt Eversmann, into the mix: He didn't write much of it. I'm not making any nefarious claims. It's just that "Secret Lives" consists almost entirely of three- or four-page interviews with people who sell and lend books.

The Secret Lives of Booksellers and Librarians: True Stories of the Magic of Reading
Heartwarming. Life-affirming. Reminiscent. Excited. These are just some of the words I can use to describe the experience of reading James Patterson and Matt Eversmann’s THE SECRET LIVES OF BOOKSELLERS AND LIBRARIANS. It is not just a tribute to those in the book trade but a literary pat on the back to anyone who loves books. The Author’s Note provides some eye-opening statistics about the current state of reading in this country.

Author’s Note You are holding a book in your hands right now. Or maybe listening to one. If you live in America, you’re among only one in five who can read a book and are actually in the habit of reading books. To my way ofthinking, that statistic is dystopian. In America we urge everyone over the age of eighteen to vote, but only 15 percent of voters read books. Only 15 percent of us perform the life-affirming, sanity-bolstering, empathy-forming act of spending time inside somebody else’s brain.
