If you go to a Muskegon Clippers game, you're bound to run into someone from the Gawkowski family, a band of self-described "baseball people" devoted to keeping high-level baseball in Muskegon, and preserving historic Marsh Field. Many members of the Gawkowski family are on the gameday staff, doing everything from field upkeep, to taking tickets, working the concession stand, sweeping the dugout and overseeing the team's financials.

Athletes receive custom adaptive equipment at massive event in Grand Rapids

Calvin University's Gainey Athletic Complex was full of athletes on Monday morning, just a handful of the more than 400 athletes from around the country who are in town for the Hartford Nationals. The event is the largest and longest-running national sports event for athletes with disabilities. One of the top events of the week came under the shade of the athletes lounge tent, where six athletes received quite a surprise. They were gifted custom-fitted adaptive sports equipment.
