Meta announces VR Glasses for $1,299 alongside cheaper smart glass updates

Meta took steps on Wednesday at its Connect event to focus on AI smart glasses as its primary computing platform while its VR tech evolves into a premier tier. In spring 2027, Meta will launch Meta VR Glasses for $1,299 that are lightweight (100 grams), putting all the heavy stuff in a tethered compute puck that clips to your pocket or sits on a table. That’s the battery, cooling fan and processor, including Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Reality Elite chipset.
