Interview

How is social media changing news?

It's making it more immediate and more open to public scrutiny; there's a discourse in place with social media that wasn't present before

What does it mean to be a journalist?

As a reviewer, I feel that it's my job to encourage conversation - to get my thoughts and feelings out there and to open up a discourse

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Word and Chrome - classics

What's your favorite social network?

As much as I agree with the general sentiment that Twitter is a cesspit, it also brings me a lot of smiles - WeRateDogs is a daily highlight

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

My high school didn't have a newspaper, but my university did: I spent three years writing and editing for Redbrick, and I loved every second

What's your favorite drink?

Depends on the occasion, but I'd never say no to a good rum and cola

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Either curled up on my sofa with a cup of tea and a book, or in front of my TV with a box set or a good movie

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

I tend to devour the new issue of Empire every time it drops through my letterbox
