Market opening will be different on the Initial Public Offering (IPO) day. If you’re planning to trade shares in a US company that has just listed, the first day of trading will be a bit different from what you might expect. Although the US stock market officially opens at 2:30pm (UK time), the newly listed shares do not usually start trading straight away. Instead, the shares enter what’s called an opening auction period.

JJ Rhatigan profit soars after ‘satisfactory’ year

Pre-tax profit at contractor JJ Rhatigan (UK) has risen 74 per cent from £9.7m to £16.9m in the year to 31 October 2025, its latest accounts show. Meanwhile, the firm’s turnover rose 26 per cent to £195.1m from £154.4m. “In the opinion of the directors, both the level of business and year-end financial position were satisfactory in 2025,” the company said in its accounts.
