Overview Teachers are the backbone of schools — but the state of the profession is fragile. Chalkbeat dug into exclusive new data on the share of teachers leaving the profession over the last several years. This data, which we’ll share in detail for the first time at our July 30 online event, shows that heightened teacher turnover was not just a pandemic-era blip. In many places, more teachers have been leaving the classroom for the past 4 to 5 years.
