Reinsurers posted strong first–half results on the back of underwriting profits and low catastrophe losses. The group of reinsurers monitored by Morningstar DBRS collectively earned a record aggregate net income of $14 billion, up 16.7% from $12 billion in first-half 2025, the ratings agency said in a report Thursday.

Amynta Group makes Southern States buy

Amynta Group on Wednesday said it would acquire the insurance operations of Southern States Cooperative, comprised of Southern States Underwriters and SSC Insurance Agency, collectively Southern States Underwriters. Terms of the transaction, expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, were not disclosed.

Boom by 2030 forecast for global data center insurance market

The global data center insurance market is projected to grow from around $11 billion today to more than $24 billion by 2030. Annual data center investment is projected to rise from around $500 billion in 2024 to more than $1 trillion as early as 2027, according to a report Wednesday from Allianz. The U.S. and China are expected to account for around 62% of new global capacity additions through 2030, the report said.
