June 23, 2026, 12:21 p.m. ET The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has canceled plans to use two Pennsylvania warehouses as immigrant detention centers, according to U.S. Sen. John Fetterman. Fetterman on June 22 confirmed a recent report by The New York Times that Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin had abandoned plans to use at least seven of the 11 warehouses it bought in several states including facilities in Berks and Schuylkill counties.
