Since Otto Bayer reported the first synthesis of polyurethanes (PU) in 1937, (1) a new class of highly robust and versatile polymers was introduced. (2−7) PU represent a tunable material that allows application in various sectors, like the textile, automotive, and construction industries. (7−13) The largest share of PU production is accredited to mechanical materials such as rigid and solid foams or elastomers.
