Abstract Retinal inflammation is a key determinant of visual prognosis in uveitis, yet its assessment on fluorescein angiography remains subjective, labor-intensive, and insufficiently scalable for clinical trials or large cohort studies. Fluorescein angiography is the gold standard for assessing retinal inflammation. However, its scoring remains challenging, as the process is complex and time-consuming, limiting routine use in clinical trials and patient care.

Abstract Omics profiling has proven of great use for unbiased and comprehensive identification of key features that define biological phenotypes and underlie medical conditions. While each omics profile assists characterization of specific molecular components relevant for the studied phenotype, their joint evaluation can offer deeper insights into the overall mechanistic functioning of biological systems.

Abstract Fundus images allow for non-invasive assessment of the retinal vasculature whose features provide important information on health. Using a fully automated image processing pipeline, we extract 17 different morphological vascular phenotypes, including median vessels diameter, diameter variability, main temporal angles, vascular density, central retinal equivalents, the number of bifurcations, and tortuosity, from over 130,000 fundus images of close to 72,000 UK Biobank subjects.
