Kenya’s High Commissioner to Uganda, Ababu Namwamba, and Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi publicly clashed on Wednesday over claims regarding Namwamba’s exit from ODM. The dispute has drawn attention to the internal tensions gripping the party, especially following the removal of Secretary General Edwin Sifuna. Mbadi, speaking on JKLive on Wednesday, February 11, linked Namwamba’s departure to disciplinary action after he allegedly acted against the party’s interests.

The government has launched a global search for an investor to contribute up to $2 billion (Sh258 billion) to revive Kenya Airways, marking a major shift in the airline’s operations and financial management. National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi described the restructuring as “the most consequential shift in the airline’s trajectory in decades,” signalling the state’s determination to reduce KQ’s reliance on public funds and build a financially sustainable airline.
