The training will prepare participants to take the Texas Department of Agriculture exam to obtain a pesticide private applicator license.

Texas strawberry producers have experienced an average season so far despite freezes, drought and temperature variability impacting yields, according to a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service expert. The growing season started in October with planting, said Russ Wallace, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension horticulturist in Lubbock and professor in Texas A&M’s Department of Horticultural Sciences.

Once again, wet soils have delayed corn planting throughout Missouri. The latest USDA/NASS information shows that 27% of intended corn acres have been planted which is half the five-year average. Areas within Missouri differ for frequency of April rains and its impacts on corn planting. Missouri’s earliest planted region, Southeast, has experienced the greatest delay in corn planting. The most important effect from delayed corn planting is a decrease in yield potential.
