This is what everyone thinks Keynes said: Deficits during bad times, surpluses during good times. Don't know that Keynes ever said that! Certainly some of his contemporaries thought his work implied persistent deficits could be the best economic policy.
15. I'd also like to hear Summers et al. address this kind of argument more directly. If you see him, ask him about for him. In the meantime, we'll see what the undergrads put on their exams.

13. So I don't think economists and liberals generally should be jumping on the "Trump's tax cut won't help the economy" bandwagon. There are plenty of better arguments against the tax legislation.
12. But it seems to accord with what Summers has been saying in other contexts about secular stagnation. The world's problem right now is a shortage of safe assets.
