Labour has been accused of “pulling up the drawbridge” on parents as new research shows that one in five of its candidates attended fee-paying schools. Many of Labour’s candidates went to some of Britain’s most elite schools, analysis by The Times shows, as the party plans to introduce a 20 per cent charge on fees. Greg Hands, the business minister, said it showed “a typical hypocrisy from Labour who are pulling up the drawbridge on aspirational parents who want the best for their children”.
