Festivals across Europe have been affected by a severe heatwave that swept the continent over the weekend, with some regions recording temperatures approaching 40°C. France’s live events have been particularly affected by the extreme temperatures. Solidays, which was due to take place from 26-28 June at Hippodrome de Longchamp Racecourse in Paris, was forced to cancel due to the high heat level in the French capital.

The Scottish Event Campus (SEC) has appointed Ruth Bailey as an independent non-executive director and Peter Haggarty as director of development and infrastructure. Bailey joins the SEC Board as the organisation develops plans for future investment and growth across the campus, which comprises the OVO Hydro, SEC Armadillo and SEC Centre. She has more than 20 years’ experience in the civil engineering sector, having worked on infrastructure projects in Australia, Asia and the UK.
