From Baylor to Bethlehem: Sean Jaeger happy, at home with Hawks
After playing tennis for one season at Baylor University, Sean Jaeger wanted a change. Entering the transfer portal after his freshman season, Jaeger was looking for a team with great chemistry, a great atmosphere and culture. He believes that Lehigh checks all those boxes, which enticed him to transfer. Friday night, Jaeger picked up his eighth win of the season, improving his record to 8-1. He scored a No. 4 singles win against Morgan State’s Bertin Karenzi, 6-2, 6-2.
Q&A with Lehigh football teams senior offensive line
Lehigh football’s offensive line has proved to be a tight-knit group consisting of a diverse mix of class years this season. The Brown and White spoke to offensive linemen seniors Christian Jablonski and Jackson Wiles and sophomore Christian Curatolo about their experiences in the trenches this season. Q: How have your teammates supported you in taking the starting role? Christian Jablonski: My teammates have been very supportive of my starting role.
Track looks to continue success against Lafayette
Lehigh men’s track and field will compete against rival Lafayette in an outdoor track meet on Lafayette’s turf on April 2. Lehigh will enter the meet following a dominant performance over Lafayette in an indoor track meet on Jan. 28, when the Mountain Hawks beat the Leopards by a score of 118-60, marking Lehigh’s ninth consecutive indoor victory over their rivals. During this meet, Lehigh gained a large lead against Lafayette, winning five of the six field events.
Lehigh women’s basketball falls to Boston at home
Lehigh women’s basketball fell to Boston University 78-65 at Stabler Arena on the Mountain Hawks’ senior day. Before it, the team’s two seniors, guard Anna Harvey and forward Frannie Hottinger, were honored by the team. Hottinger had a strong game, leading the team in both points — with 24 — and rebounds — with 11. She said playing in her final regular season game was bittersweet. “I can’t believe it’s already the end of the season,” Hottinger said.
Lehigh men's lacrosse freshmen named to Inside Lacrosse power 100 rankings
The Lehigh lacrosse team added 12 freshmen to the team for the upcoming spring season. Grant Rodny and Richard Checo are two of the new Mountain Hawks on the team. Both are ranked on the Inside Lacrosse/Evoshield Power 100 Freshman Rankings, with Checo ranked at 57 and Rodny at 54. Rodny said he is proud of the acknowledgement he’s received, but it won’t change his mindset and work ethic in preparing for the season.
Lehigh football drops close game to Cornell, falls to 1-6
Even after recording a season high in rushing yards, Lehigh football fell short against Cornell 15-19 on the road on Oct. 15 Sophomore running back Gaige Garcia led the offense and finished with 162 rushing yards on 25 attempts and a touchdown. To open the game, the Mountain Hawks marched down the field 68 yards and took a 3-0 lead with a 26-yard field goal. The drive consisted of 17 plays and took over eight minutes.
Men's wrestling looks to repeat placement in top 25
After finishing 9-9 last season, Lehigh’s wrestling team is ranked 28th in the nation according to InterMat. Although the team will be without heavyweight graduate Jordan Wood, the first athlete in history to become a five time EIWA champion, the team’s 11 players from the 2026 recruitment class are picking up the slack this season. Wood is the only graduate from last season who competed in the postseason.
Mountain Hawks hit the ice looking for a bounce-back season
The Lehigh men’s club varsity ice hockey team welcomed its largest class of incoming players this season in hopes of being competitive in conference play and building upon goals from last season. While still a club team, Lehigh ice hockey has a 22-game schedule including travel, receives funding from the university and has an academic requirement for its players. The team will open its season on Sept. 23 at home against William Paterson University at the Steel Ice Center in Bethlehem.
New women's rowing coach sets goals for season
After finishing fifth in the Patriot League Championship last season, the Lehigh women’s rowing team parted ways with head coach Brian Conley after 12 years with the team. Conley was named head women’s rowing coach at Old Dominion University. Senior rower Fatima Mumtaz said at first she was upset to hear about Conley’s departure, crediting him with building a strong culture for the team. “I think (Conley) really set up Lehigh rowing and made us an actual Division I team,” Mumtaz said.
Lehigh football adds three to coaching staff
Lehigh football is preparing for the 2022 fall season with the addition of three new members to the full-time coaching staff. On March 24, head coach Tom Gilmore announced that the program was welcoming Mike Moyseenko as a running backs coach and passing game coordinator, and Wisly Desire as a tight ends coach. In addition, Hunter English, former volunteer defensive quality control assistant, will be promoted to assistant defensive line coach.
Men's track sets sights on outdoor season
After setting a new school record of 1:50.84 in the 800-meter run, senior Kyle Burke led Lehigh men’s track and field to fourth place in the Patriot League Championships for the third consecutive year. Lehigh had an overall strong showing, finishing with 65 points after 18 events. They finished ahead of Bucknell and just behind Boston University, Army and Navy. Navy won the weekend with 264 points. Lehigh had several freshman standouts in the tournament.
Men's golf places fifth in Lehigh Invitational
After a slow start on the first day of the competition at the Lehigh invitational, Lehigh Golf shows its resilience as they finish in fifth out of 14 teams. Even though Lehigh shot a 305 on the first day at the Grace Course at Saucon Valley Country Club, their star player Sam Barton still had a strong showing. He shot an even-par 72 which put Lehigh in sixth place after the first day.
