Mark Barnes’s Biography

Originally from Melbourne, Australia, I am currently living and working in Hanoi, Vietnam.

I have a bachelor’s degree in communications majoring in journalism from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) and a masters degree in international relations from the University of Melbourne.

I’ve travelled extensively in South East Asia working as a practicing journalist in both the Philippines and Vietnam.

I’ve worked as a content writer, in marketing and communications, and in the development sector.

I have covered topics from personal finance to live music; from education to land rights; from presidential elections (Philippines) to COVID-19 and everything in between. I’m open for anything, love a good challenge, and have a broad and general interest in just about everything.
