Abstract The ubiquitous growth of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) has become increasingly important in higher education, yet comprehensive GIS programs remain uneven across Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Although national data on GIS offerings at HBCUs are limited, prior studies (Padgett Citation2001; Malhotra and Vlahovic Citation2011) and institutional reviews suggest that GIS availability varies widely across campuses.
