1 INTRODUCTION Older adults are the fastest growing segment of the U.S. population. Between 2022 and 2050, the proportion of the population aged 65+ is expected to grow in the U.S. from 17% to 23%, and from 10% to 16% globally.1, 2 With increasing age, comes greater prevalence of chronic diseases and disability.3 Due to this shift in age distribution, there is an expected increase in need for long-term care options for older adults.
