We report a novel HLA-A*11 allele, now named HLA-A*11:518. HLA-A*11:518 contains one nucleotide substitution in exon 2 compared to the reference sequence HLA-A*11:01:01:01. HLA typing was performed using Next Generation Sequencing (AlloSeq Tx17, CareDx, Brisbane, CA) on the MiSeq system (Illumina, San Diego, CA). Analysis was performed using AlloSeq Assign software v1.0.5 (CareDx, Brisbane, CA).

Introduction Human Leukocyte antigens (HLA) are encoded by the most polymorphic group of genes in the human genome. The genetic diversity of these molecules enables the presentation of a broad spectrum of peptides to launch adaptive immunity. HLA molecules are also the main immunological barrier to allogeneic transplantations due to their wide tissue expression and strong immunogenicity.

ABSTRACTThe analytical performance of the AIX1000 system, a fully automated and recently FDA-cleared rapid plasma reagin (RPR) system, was evaluated by comparison to a manual RPR test in a traditional syphilis testing algorithm. A total of 1,028 consecutive serum samples submitted for syphilis testing to the University of North Carolina Hospitals Clinical Immunology Laboratory were tested per each manufacturer's instructions.
