What was your first job as a journalist?
I was a trainee at The Times of India. Had to get print outs from the printer all day long.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes, I have.
How is social media changing news?
Journalism is now about clickbait headlines and number of views. Social media is changing the landscape for journalism and news.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
Clark Kent.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
Means the world to me.
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
Republic TV's recent hashtags are quite funny. Some of them being #PakBowsDown, #PakShamedAtICJ etc.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Adobe InDesign, CCI NewsGate, Quark Xpress

Twitter. Medium. Quora

Why did you become a journalist?
The thought of reaching out to people and getting their stories out to the world. No better feeling than that. Journalism helps me do that.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Was the editor of the school annual magazine, "Fapspeak". Selected stories, edited them, gave captions and slugs.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
Did an analytical piece on India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru's foreign policies. Proudest moment as a journalist for me.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
The early you accept that print is dying, the better. And advertisments are the reason why you get your salary, so learn to live with them.
What's your favorite drink?
Virgin Mojito. All time favourite.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Either be out reporting, or having discussion with colleagues regarding the state of the country and where capitalism has bought us.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
I follow The Hindu regularly. The Caravan has some really amazing articles which no one should miss.
