What was your first job as a journalist?

My first published piece, printed in our college paper, was a lengthy feature about a mystery graffiti artist dolling up the UConn campus.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Not to submit a story, but I do have an old one in it's case in my closet for nostalgia's sake.

How is social media changing news?

Journalists now have to think about content delivery, and incorporate images, video, audio and more to suit multiple networks.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

I'm big on social media and mobility, so I've got a whole heap of apps that help me monitor news, manage accounts and schedule posts.

What's your favorite social network?

I have to go with Twitter here. I love how effortlessly we can connect, and how it connects me to information I might not see otherwise.

Why did you become a journalist?

I was an English major, until a wise professor told me I was on the wrong side of the writing action. He was right.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I was the editor-in-chief of my high school paper, The Forum. It came out three times/year, and we printed it with the main office copier...
