SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A 19-year-old man is facing three charges after police say he was involved in a shooting that injured two people near Angela Boulevard and Eddy Street Commons on Sept. 19. Anthony Michael Taylor turned himself in over the weekend and is charged with one count of battery by means of a deadly weapon, a level five felony, and two counts of criminal recklessness, a level five and six felony.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Beacon Health Systems released a round of upcoming job cuts in a statement released last week, but former employee Judy Nowak says she’s not surprised by the announcement. Nowak worked in the accounting department at the headquarters in South Bend and said she felt overworked. When she asked for additional help, she says management denied her request to hire employees. “Those poor people in accounting are overworked,” Nowak said.

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- One person is dead following a crash in La Porte County. Officials say deputies responded to a crash at about 1:35 p.m. on September 25. A scene was found on State Road 2 east of CR900 West. One witness told investigators a Kia was driving behind a FedEx truck before driving over the center line. The car reportedly crashed into a Ford vehicle. The driver of the Ford, 36-year-old Kayla Roche, died from her injuries.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A 34-year-old Niles man will spend a decade in prison after pleading guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute 50 Grams or more of Methamphetamine. The United States Attorney’s Office Northern District of Indiana reports on Sept. 23, Robert Newton was sentenced to 10 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release. Court documents reveal Newton was driving through Michigan City when police pulled him over for a traffic violation.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The suspect in the recent shooting at Eddy Street Commons has turned himself in. The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office reports that 19-year-old Anthony Michael Taylor of South Bend turned himself in for the shooting, which happened on September 19. Officials say it happened in a crowded area near Notre Dame as that weekend's football game was starting. Officials say investigators spoke to witnesses and used surveillance video to help identify the suspect in this case.

NOBLE COUNTY, Ind. -- A 62-year-old Kosciusko County councilwoman has been charged with OWI with prior conviction following a traffic stop in Albion, Indiana the night of Sept. 25. The Albion Police Department reports Kimberley Cates was pulled over around 10:09 p.m. at Main and Oak Street. Police say Cates had red and glassy eyes, was unbalanced, and the officer smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage. The report states Cates refused a chemical test. Later at 1:03 a.m. on Sept.
