With the striking, retro-futuristic “Glassbox” Carrera arguably becoming the face of the brand, it can be easy to forget that TAG Heuer still offers its most versatile chronograph with a more conventional, bezel-equipped layout. While the Jetson-esque, bubble-dome base Carrera dominates enthusiast discourse, the larger, more traditional Carrera Chronograph Sport has been offering a traditional, purpose-built look for those who desire it.

For the most part, Vaer has largely adhered to the classic genres of timepieces, such as divers, GMT’s, field watches, and racing chronographs. However, among the Los Angeles brand’s more recent (and unexpected) releases for 2026 is the Vaer G2 Fairway GMT. This takes the core blueprint of the brand’s entry-level quartz GMT model and transforms its rotating bezel into an analog score-keeping system specifically tailored to the sport of golf.

The timepiece landscape over the last few years has compelled me to examine smaller wristwatch sizes than I’d normally wear. That led me to this reference H11684 matte-blue Chanel J12 ceramic watch. Historically, I cast the 38mm-wide version of the Chanel J12 as a women’s watch (mainly because that’s how Chanel positioned it), but today, 38mm is a common size for men’s models, too.

2026 marks the 50th anniversary of Geneva-based Raymond Weil watches. The company is among the relatively rare maisons that combine traditional Swiss watchmaking with an accessible, practical approach to marketing and product design. Accordingly, Raymond Weil products often encapsulate much of what enthusiasts love about traditional, conservative watchmaking, but without much of the bloat.

For most watch enthusiasts, understanding how a mechanical movement works is largely an exercise in observation. Exhibition casebacks reveal the bridges, wheels, gears and balance wheel at work, while books and videos can explain what those components actually do. Taking a movement apart and successfully putting it back together, however, is another proposition entirely.

It has been a little while since Glashütte-based A. Lange & Söhne released a new version of its popular and well-composed 1815 Up/Down model. For 2026, A. Lange & Söhne debuts two new gold-cased limited-edition versions of the 1815 Up/Down with solid 925 silver faces and contrasting subdials. The products are meant to be debuted at the Hampton Court Palace Concours of Elegance car show, which A. Lange & Söhne sponsors in the UK.

Originally introduced in 2018, the A. Lange & Söhne Triple Split stands out as one of the watch industry’s most mechanically impressive chronographs. Unlike a standard split-seconds chronograph that only provides split-timing for its seconds hand, the Triple Split offers complete split-timing for the hours, minutes, and seconds — on top of also being a flyback chronograph and featuring Lange’s signature Up/Down power reserve indicator.

Originally introduced last year in 2025, the RZE UTD-8000 is an ultra-durable titanium digital watch that was specifically created to withstand extreme levels of physical punishment. The original lineup of UTD-8000 models showcased their solid-titanium construction, but RZE has more recently been experimenting with DLC and Cerakote coatings.

Although it’s produced a disparate variety of designs over the past decade, Chinese marque CIGA design carries a special fascination with Mount Everest. Its top-of-the-heap central tourbillon model celebrated the original ascent of the mountain back in 2024, and for its second tribute to the world’s tallest mountain, the brand takes the opportunity to once again introduce a new exotic complication to the collection.

With so many watch varieties now, as well as a larger brand that focuses on so many more objects than just timepieces, it can be challenging to spot what is both novel and innovative from Louis Vuitton. The Paris-based brand does all its watchmaking work from the group-owned La Fabrique du Temps facility in Geneva. In addition to beautiful and lavish luxury watches, the brand has been keen to mechanically innovate in a variety of areas.
