The milestone season features the 60th Anniversary Gala event, taking place Feb.

In 2016, Decidedly Jazz Danceworks (DJD) raised $28.5 million to build what is now Calgary's largest recreational dance school focused on jazz music and performance. This did not happen overnight.

A mod-revival design preserves 1970s architecture and melds with its surroundings. Kate and Lucas Portwood's ranch along the Elbow River in Springbank was a true testament to the funky 1970s: the home's curved staircase and sunken living room were hints that the house hadn't been updated since it was first built a half-century ago. Unfortunately, other signs of the times - outdated electrical work and good ol' asbestos insulation - necessitated a renovation.

Lake Louise is one of those postcard-perfect places, or more aptly now, Insta-perfect. I try to make an annual pilgrimage to either canoe the crystalline turquoise lake in summer or skate on its frozen surface in winter. And yet, I had never stayed at the historic Post Hotel & Spa before. Deciding it was time to remedy that, I made my way to the village of Lake Louise last December to check in to what was originally the Lake Louise Ski Lodge.

A longtime law enforcement expert, the head of Calgary's police service works to make the city stronger and safer. With nearly 40 years of policing experience, spanning several areas of the Calgary Police Service (CPS), Chief Katie McLellan knows what it takes to create stronger and safer communities, especially as Calgary continues to grow. McLellan is only the second female chief in CPS history, after Christine Silverberg (1995-2000).
