Print Article Dolly Parton, the renowned singer, songwriter, gospel artist, actress, and philanthropist whose faith shaped much of her life and work, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, in Nashville, Tenn., at age 80, according to a video posted to her social media accounts Tuesday. While Parton built a legendary career in music and entertainment, her faith remained a steady thread throughout her life.

Patty, who turned 70 in July, said the song, “The Voice I Have Now,” was an ideal match for her vocal chords and her station in life. “It’s the perfect song for someone sort of looking back over their career, looking back over life, and realizing God has been faithful all this time,” Patty said in an interview on Wednesday, Aug.

Obituary: Richard DuBroc Jr. Print Article Richard DuBroc Jr., longtime pastor of First Baptist Church of El Campo, died Aug. 17. He was 80. DuBroc was born July 8, 1946, in Fort Worth to Richard and Maxine Vallery DuBroc. His family moved frequently because of his father’s work in the oilfield, and he attended several grade schools before graduating from Liberty High School in 1964.

These events connected attendees with community collaborators, including local nonprofits, businesses, sports organizations, health providers, and churches who offered resources and services designed to support children and families throughout the school year.

Today, I had the joy of participating in the new Baylor Baptist Student Ministry building ribbon-cutting. The celebration is the culmination of a process of dreaming, dialoguing, and collaborating together for the sake of the kingdom.

The U.S. State Department announced, Aug. 6, a group of faith-based humanitarian organizations would receive almost $2 billion for global health and humanitarian efforts.
