Vi har själva bidragit till att lägga fokus på allt detta dystra, med våra artiklar om flera av dessa ämnen.

Do you care more about the name on the label or the taste of the contents? I’m sure it’s the latter. Sometimes it is difficult to rid oneself of “received wisdom”, though, which gets in the way of really appreciating the wine. Champagne, in particular, as well as other sparkling wines, are more than most subject to these misunderstandings and myths. Serve it from an ice bucket. Drink it from a pretty and tall glass. Ultimate luxury is vintage. Champagne is always from Champagne.

At the Island Wine Summit in Tenerife in June, I tasted some excellent wines from islands in the Mediterranean and the North Atlantic Ocean (see part 1 for an introduction). The winemakers here mostly work with indigenous grape varieties, and they are passionate about keeping the terroir character of their specific island vineyards.

På Island Wine Summit 2026 på Teneriffa i juni provade jag ett stort antal fantastiska viner från öar i Medelhavet och Atlanten (se del 1 för en introduktion). Vinmakarna här arbetar främst med lokala druvsorter och är passionerat engagerade i att bevara terroiren i sina specifika ö-vingårdar.

At the end of June, we wrote an in-depth article about the heat-wave’s effect on vineyards. Large parts of Europe have been hit by exceptional weather this year. We explained that the heat can lead to problems in many ways, drought, burnt grapes, imbalance, immaturity and over-ripeness and a lot more. It was a theme that interested the English publication Metro, so they called us and asked for an interview with Per, which we were happy to do. There is so much inaccurate writing.

I slutet på juni skrev vi en ingående artikel om värmeböljans effekt på vingårdarna. Stora delar av Europa har ju drabbats av exceptionellt väder i år. Vi förklarade värmen kan leda till problem på många sätt, torka, brända druvor, obalans, omognad och övermognad och en hel del annat. Det var ett tema som intresserade den engelska publikationen Metro, så de ringde upp oss och bad om en intervju med Per, vilket vi ju gärna ställde upp på. Det skrivs så mycket konstigt eller ovederhäftigt.
