CALGARY - The Alberta government, Ottawa and five major oilsands producers have signed a memorandum of understanding to advance the multibillion-dollar Pathways carbon capture and storage project. The Pathways project is a condition for a new West Coast oilsands pipeline moving ahead, and would serve to offset some of the carbon emissions that infrastructure would enable.

MONTREAL - A Court of Quebec judge in Montreal has found fashion mogul Peter Nygard guilty of sexual assault and forcible confinement. The 84-year-old, who founded the now-defunct women's apparel company Nygard International, accepted a plea deal and did not present any evidence in his defence Monday. He appeared via video call from an Ontario prison.

MIRABEL - Quebec's economy minister is announcing a series of initiatives aimed at training more aerospace workers. Bernard Drainville revealed the plans north of Montreal in Mirabel, which is home to a major aerospace hub. He announced that a technical college in Longueuil, the École nationale d’aérotechnique, will increase its enrolment capacity by 70 per cent in its aircraft mechanics and avionics programs.

SURREY - The B.C. Lions have named veteran coach Dennis McKnight their new special teams coordinator. The CFL club made the announcement Monday as it returned from a bye week. McKnight spent five seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, including as special teams coordinator in 2024 and 2025, and spent the 2011 campaign as running backs coach for the then-Edmonton Eskimos. He previously coached in the XFL and with several NCAA programs, including the University of Hawaii and San Diego State.
