With great sorrow we announce that Harold Orthello Mong, Jr., 64, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026, Biloxi VA Palliative Care following a brief battle with cancer. Born on May 10, 1962, in Franklin, Pennsylvania, Harold was the son of Harold Orthello Mong, Sr. and Marjorie Hovis Mong Kay. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1981. Harold fulfilled his lifelong dream of serving in the U.S. Army Infantry.
BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — Emergency officials are responding to widespread flash flooding and power outages across Jefferson and southern Clarion counties from weekend storms while the National Weather Service places the region under a new flood watch through Monday evening. He requested an autopsy report related to a 1987 cold case that he was researching for a book project. After Coroner Scott Sayers denied the request, Sherwood successfully appealed to the Office of Open Records, or OOR, a state agency responsible for adjudicating Right-To-Know Law disputes.
TURKEY CITY, Pa. (EYT) — Children ages 3 to 13 are invited to attend Emerald Crossing Vacation Bible School from Monday, July 13, through Friday, July 17, at Turkey City Church of God. BEAVER TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A woman was transported to the hospital after police say she fell asleep at the wheel, causing an afternoon collision on Interstate 80 in Clarion County. According to a report from the Pennsylvania State Police in Clarion, the crash occurred at 2:36 p.m. on June 23 along Interstate 80 Westbound near mile marker 53.0 in Beaver Township. State police report that Julie L. Daffern, 57, of Beaver Falls, was driving a 2018 Ford F-150 westbound in the left lane.

ELDRED TWP., Pa. (EYT) — State police are searching for a driver who allegedly fled the scene after striking a teen riding a scooter on O’Donnell Road in Eldred Township last week. According to Pennsylvania State Police in Marienville, the incident occurred at 11:00 p.m. on June 30 on O’Donnell Road, approximately 50 feet south of Fisher Road in Jefferson County. Investigating officers state that Esther A. Mast, 19, of Corsica, was traveling south on the shoulder of O’Donnell Road on a scooter.
