Fastmarkets clarifies antimony data submission, normalization process
Data submission Fastmarkets price assessments reflect the open and competitive spot market, which means reporters must be confident that reported activity is not, for example, being conducted between affiliated counterparties in a non-arm’s-length manner or as a transaction that is part of a long-term agreement. Trades, bids and offers are considered more open and competitive if submitted to a wider cross-section of the market than a restricted pool of counterparties.

On August 5, Fastmarkets partially reflected a deal reported at $18,000 per tonne owing to a lack of corroboration. Following a review of the pricing session, we have determined that there was an inconsistent application of our methodology, due to a procedural error. We have since corrected the August 5 assessment to fully reflect the deal. The price assessment for August 5 has therefore been corrected to $18,000-20,500 per tonne, from $18,500-20,500 per tonne.
