The Remember My Name Domestic Violence Vigil will take place Oct. 1 at 5:30 p.m. on the steps of the Judge E. Maurice Braswell Cumberland County Courthouse. According to a press release from the county, attendees will pay tribute to those who died from domestic violence in North Carolina during the past year. Thomas Battle will speak at the event. He directs Human Resources for Installation Management on Fort Bragg. The South View High School Junior ROTC will post the colors.

Two firefighters were airlifted to a hospital after getting hurt while battling a wildfire that scorched more than 150 acres in Robeson County on Monday, Sept. 21. According to a report from WPDE, the fire erupted when someone was burning trash and the flames jumped out of control, officials said. Flames tore through land near the intersection of McMillan Road and Red Bank Road in the Prospect community. Eight mutual aid departments rushed to the scene, along with the North Carolina Forest Service.

"No Scrubs" jumped from No. 15 to No. 7 on the R&B Streaming Songs chart. This gave the group its first top 10 finish on that ranking.
