Making movies is a lot of fun, but it’s also exhausting. When you’re playing someone like James Bond, the role is as physically demanding as it is mentally taxing. As the actor playing the iconic superspy, not only do you strive to satisfy audiences, but you also want to contribute your own spin to the character’s legacy. Daniel Craig, while thrilled to play James Bond for several films on the big screen, is not shy to admit that the job of playing Bond is challenging.

At a time when Sony still plans to stop releasing video games on disc for its PlayStation consoles by the start of 2028, it sure is nice to see some physical media distributors still value ownership and sweet packaging. Recently, Rough Cut Video opened pre-orders for a Blu-ray re-release of Jon Hess’ 1988 monster horror film Watchers. The trailer for Other Mommy debuted ahead of screenings of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, and social media was soon flooded with stories from moviegoers who had been thoroughly freaked out by Jessica Chastain’s new horror film. Once the trailer made its way online, it became pretty obvious which moment had audiences practically pissing their pants in theaters. Jessica, you’re scary! And also very bendy.

The Odyssey is officially a box office megahit. While it opened extremely well last weekend, there was plenty of speculation about how it would perform in its second frame. Most movies that debut north of $100 million suffer declines in the 50–60% range, but The Odyssey slipped just 30%, grossing an incredible $87 million this weekend—more than we predicted. With a running domestic total of $286 million, The Odyssey is now on its way to earning at least $400 million.

One of the coolest things to happen at Comic-Con this year was that, after twenty-five years of being a fan, I finally got to meet the entire Broken Lizard gang at the after-party for their latest movie, Super Troopers 3. I was able to interview the whole gang on the red carpet before popping into the party for—well—more than a few drinks, including an Old Fashioned that nodded to the infamous syrup-chugging gag from the first film.

Late last night, after making its Comic-Con debut, the social embargo for Coyote vs. Acme was lifted. Many journalists, including myself, saw the film in early June, so we’ve been holding our excitement in for literal months. It’s always sad when a legend leaves us, but when it’s totally unexpected, it always hits a little harder. Such is the case with Chuck Russell, the writer-director behind such classics as A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, The Mask, and many more.
