Residents of Shreveport have concerns about bulk pickup of items that get put out on the curb and sit for weeks. But one of the big problems is that residents aren't following the guidelines for getting the city to pick up the trash and debris. Bulk trash collection operates strictly by appointment on designated service days. Residents must schedule these pickups in advance by calling 318-673-6300 or the "report a concern" portal on the city's website.

Ascension Parish, La. - There's a lot of economic development happening around Louisiana right now. From data centers to SpaceX, things are happening all over the state. One of these major economic developments is in Donaldsonville, Louisiana where major steel mill is coming. A massive $5.8 billion steel manufacturing plant, Hyundai-POSCO Louisiana Steel,  planned for Ascension Parish is expected to create more than 1,300 direct jobs, with an average annual salary of approximately $95,000.

A substitute teacher in Southwest Louisiana has been fired and arrested after authorities say she gave a student a vape and allowed the child to use it multiple times during class. According to KPLC, 45-year-old Christy Chapman was working as a substitute teacher in Allen Parish when the alleged incident occurred. Deputies said classroom video captured Chapman giving a student a vape and allowing the student to use the device more than once during the class period.

Shreveport Police have charged a woman with theft after an investigation into appliances that were taken from an apartment during a move-out. Officers were called by management at the Silver Pines South Pointe Apartments, after finding a refrigerator and stove belonging to the apartment complex were missing. The appliances were valued at around $1,200. During the investigation, SPD Detectives learned that witnesses saw Precious Shanell N.

A Woodlawn High School teacher has been arrested following allegations that he showed inappropriate images to a 15 year-old student. The investigation began late last month, after the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office was told of suspected inappropriate communication from a teacher, 28 year-old Demetric A. Preston, to a student at Woodlawn High School. The 15 year-old student told school officials that Preston had shown them nude images of himself during the first week of school.
