Hawkeyes host Northern Illinois in season opener at Kinnick Stadium

3 Iowa men get decades in prison for Quad Cities meth ring
DAVENPORT, Iowa — Three Iowa men received federal prison sentences for running a methamphetamine distribution operation across the Quad Cities area. The men were responsible for distributing about 25 pounds of methamphetamine throughout the region, according to court documents and evidence presented at sentencing. Jacob Daniel Sheley, 27 of Clinton, also known as "Chili," received a 25-year prison sentence on March 17.

Judge declares mistrial in Lindsay Clancy case after jurors can’t reach a verdict
A Massachusetts judge declared a mistrial on Friday in the case of Lindsay Clancy, the former nurse accused of murdering her three children, after jurors deadlocked and were unable to reach a verdict. The jury deliberated for about 38 hours over seven days. Jury notes indicated the 12-person jury, made up of nine women and three men, was split 11 to 1, but any verdict must be unanimous.
Minnesota gas prices near $4 as Labor Day travel costs rise
ROCHESTER, Minn. (KIMT) — Drivers filling up this Labor Day weekend are facing significantly higher prices than they did a year ago, with Minnesota's average price for regular gasoline approaching $4 a gallon and diesel reaching a new state record. According to AAA, the statewide average for regular gas was $3.98 a gallon Friday, compared with $3.12 a year ago. That's an increase of roughly 86 cents, or about 28 percent. Diesel prices have climbed even more.
