ROCHESTER, Minn. (KIMT) — Federal prosecutors have charged a Rochester daycare operator with wire fraud for allegedly stealing from a state program meant to help early childhood educators. Jillaine Mertens faces one count of wire fraud filed Wednesday. Mertens ran three daycare facilities across Minnesota: Creative Stars Academy in Rochester and Kasson, and Tree of Life Academy in Ramsey.

Unofficial results: 444 YES 744 NO The results are unofficial until the school board canvases the results. The more than $24 million building bond referendum would have funded facility improvement projects at the Rushford-Peterson School.

UPDATE: Medical emergency caused multi-car crash in NW Rochester

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KIMT) - Rochester Police say a four to five car crash was caused by a medical emergency. RPD says a driver suffered an epileptic seizure. The crash started at 41st Street and went all the way to 31st Street, roughly 10 blocks. As of 3:40 p.m. on Monday, Rochester Police had issued a partial road closure near 41st St. NW and Marketplace Dr. NW. There was a major traffic backup in the area at the time of the crash.
