MANITOWOC (NBC 26) — The city of Manitowoc has shared its vision for a brand new playground at Henry Schuette Park, but some residents are pushing back on plans that would replace the community-built structure that has stood for more than 20 years. Lawmakers on Capitol Hill have just a handful of legislative days left before their August recess to advance spending bills, nominations, or any other political priorities. President Donald Trump on Monday again pushed lawmakers to pass the SAVE America Act, which would reform U.S. elections by requiring Americans to provide ID to vote and proof of citizenship to register to vote.

OSHKOSH (NBC 26) — The Arizona Cardinals' NFL team jet was on display for one day only at EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, giving aviation and football fans a rare look inside the multi-million dollar aircraft. The plane, a Boeing 777-200ER, is provided to the Cardinals by Gridiron Air, a company that specializes in team travel. Paul Kirby, president and CEO of Gridiron Air, said the aircraft is configured specifically for the team's starters and special teams players.

OSHKOSH (NBC 26) — Sheri Kraus grew up near Fond du Lac, and she says a visit to EAA AirVenture changed the course of her life. Now a director at Headquarters Pacific Air Forces, she flew back to Oshkosh this week on a military transport plane from Hickam Air Force Base for the annual aviation celebration. "Basically, the EAA — both the museum and the convention — are why I joined the Air Force," Kraus said.

APPLETON (NBC 26) — After seven consecutive days of dangerous smoke levels, mechanics and air quality experts say now is the time to check your filters. There are three main filters people should be looking at: your car's cabin and engine air filters, your home HVAC or furnace filter, and filters inside portable air purifiers.

DE PERE (NBC 26) — Nearly two weeks after flooding damaged parts of De Pere High School, the school district is providing new details about the extent of the damage and the repairs now underway. District officials say 51 rooms and spaces were affected when flooding struck the school on July 8, including the library media center, nearby classrooms, band rooms and athletic training areas. The district told NBC 26 the initial cleanup and mitigation work has been completed.

President Donald Trump is insisting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not be arrested if he visits the U.S., pushing back on threats from New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani. In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said Netanyahu won't be arrested "in any way, shape, or form" if he travels to Manhattan for a United Nations General Assembly meeting in September.

BROWN COUNTY (NBC 26) — The bond for a man accused of causing a deadly crash on Lombardi Avenue in January has been reduced by $200,000, according to court records. Douglas Proehl, 69, is charged with four felonies, including homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle, after allegedly driving under the influence and causing a crash that claimed the life of 17-year-old Chloe (Chara) Bishop and injured 45-year-old Danny Bishop. A cash bond of $500,000 was set for Proehl in early February.

President Donald Trump on Monday imposed 50% tariffs on most Canadian goods, declaring that Canada has unfairly discriminated against American autos, alcohol and dairy products. The move could unleash a new wave of economic chaos, with risks of higher inflation and further fraying of relations between two nations that had been closely woven together before Trump's return to the White House.
