Rescued pigs recovering after removal during animal cruelty investigation
Animal advocates are calling for additional charges against a man accused of animal cruelty after surveillance footage showed a horse being pulled behind a car with a rope. Police said 62-year-old Camarillo Guarneros turned himself in on July 3 following the death of his horse, Pinto, on June 27. Since then, more farm animals have been rescued from his home, including several pigs.

48-year-old rider motorcyclist dies after crash on stolen motorcycle, police say
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A 48-year-old motorcyclist died after a crash in east Las Vegas involving a stolen motorcycle and a turning vehicle, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said. Police said officers responded at about 9:23 a.m. Saturday to a vehicle-versus-motorcycle collision at East Owens Avenue and North 23rd Street. Scene evidence and witness statements indicated a stolen 2021 Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Owens Avenue, approaching 23rd Street in the right travel lane of two.

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — As proposed data centers draw pushback across Southern Nevada, residents in Pahrump took their concerns to the streets Saturday, protesting along Highway 160 against a planned facility in the area. The proposed data center would be built across from the Mountain Falls community, where resident Mary Hollis said her concerns go beyond water, noise and health issues. “It adversely affects the Mountain Falls area,” Hollis said.

As families prepare for the upcoming school year, some North Las Vegas students got a boost with free backpacks and supplies during a Saturday morning community event. Smith’s partnered with Nevada Partners to host a back-to-school giveaway for kids who may not be able to get school supplies and backpacks on their own. The event also offered haircuts and community resources. Smith’s donated 1,100 school supply kits. Volunteers helped stuff the backpacks and pass them out to students.
