A Portrait of America photography show in Greenport extended until Sept. 6
Floyd Memorial Library’s (539 First St., Greenport, 631-477-0660) summer art exhibition, A Portrait of America: Documentary Photography at 250 Years, has been extended until Sunday, Sept. 6, and if you haven’t yet seen it, it is well worth a trip to Greenport. Sally Grant, the exhibition’s curator, designed the show to offer a reflection on the United States’ 250th anniversary this year, following in the tradition of iconic American photographers like Dorothea Lange, Walker Evans and Robert Frank.

Taylor Dayne comes home for a Suffolk show
New York-native Taylor Dayne is diverging from her tour route with Swedish pop-rock group Roxette for a hometown show on Long Island. On Sept. 17 at 8 p.m., the three-time-grammy-nominated, multi-genre-spanning American music icon will hit The Suffolk stage (118 E. Main St., Riverhead, 631-727-4343), bringing her hits back to the place that inspired them. “When I’m coming back home, I see my sisters, I see my brothers, I see my people and I understand them,” says Dayne.
