Search ArticlesWeather Wednesday: The Science of Specific Heat Capacity
DETROIT LAKES, MN — It's not just the leaves falling this week, the air temperatures are falling as well. I say air temperatures specifically, because if you dip your hand into the water...yeah, it’s chilly, but it’s nearly the same temperature as it was last week. That’s thanks to what us meteorologists call specific heat capacity. Specific heat capacity refers to the amount of energy, or heat, that you have to add to something to raise its temperature by one degree.
Will the Timberwolves play LaMelo Ball and Anthony Edwards together all the time?
The Minnesota Timberwolves traded for LaMelo Ball largely to accentuate the strengths of Anthony Edwards. Ball’s arrival could move Minnesota’s star guard off the ball to, in theory, lighten his load of offensive responsibilities while generating easier looks with less effort. The vision has been on display through three exhibition games. Edwards has 45 points in 41 minutes of playing time with Ball on the floor while shooting 54% from the floor and 60% from distance.

There was no decision in Cade Tyson’s eligibility case on Tuesday, but some legal experts said it does not look good for the Gophers’ wing and others in his class who are suing the NCAA for an extra year of eligibility this season. The three-judge panel in the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver appeared receptive to the NCAA’s case during oral arguments in the antitrust case, Wisne v. NCAA.

ST. PAUL — Picture this: It’s late in a one-goal game, and the Minnesota Wild coach needs six members of his roster to play a solid defensive shift. Onto the ice, in front of goalie Filip Gustavsson, Hynes puts out defensemen Brock Faber and Jared Spurgeon, and a grit line of wingers Marcus Foligno and Nick Foligno with Nico Sturm at center.
