MERIDEN — City police have charged a man after an investigation allegedly found he sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl more than once, police say. In a release, the Meriden Police Department said 45-year-old Fredrick Eaton was charged with three counts of first-degree sexual assault, two counts of risk of injury to a minor and one count of first-degree threatening.

MERIDEN — Police say two brothers were arrested Sunday in connection with an altercation during a Father’s Day gathering on West Main Street. Meriden Police Lt. Darrin McKay said Miguel Roman, 37, was injured in an altercation with another man at the party. Numerous people, including family and friends, were at the party, but Roman was not related to the man he fought, McKay noted. He suffered a wound to his head that was determined not to be life-threatening, according to McKay.

MERIDEN — A bridge over Interstate-691 in Meriden will be closed for rehabilitation for two months beginning Sunday night. The North Wall Street bridge will be inaccessible to motorists that day starting at 6 p.m., according to the state Department of Transportation. It is expected to reopen sometime around Aug. 23. Pedestrian traffic over the bridge will be allowed throughout the construction period, the DOT said. Detours will be in place in both directions.

WALLINGFORD — An 18-year-old punched a person in the face, knocking them unconscious in the driveway of a local residence where a graduation party was taking place, police said. Adam Harper, an attendee of the party, was charged with second-degree assault following the incident, according to Wallingford police. Police said emergency personnel responded to the incident at 12:37 a.m. June 17. Police said the victim was lying on his side in the driveway when first responders arrived.

MERIDEN — Police said they are on scene at a crash in downtown Meriden that has closed a road, though details on the incident are scant. Police have shut down Miller Street near its intersection with Pratt Street as of 4:25 p.m. on Sunday, a Meriden police spokesperson confirmed. Police said they had no further information to share about the crash at this time. This is a developing story and will be updated.
