With our newsletters and website, we’re going to dive deep into the issues that matter to European startups and innovators. Where in-depth, long-form trend reporting is missing, we’ll write it. Where brilliant lists, Medium articles or guides on funding, or hiring, or regulation exist, we’ll share them. Where discerning, insightful case studies on how companies tackled problems and learned from mistakes are lacking, we’ll create them.
We want to be an essential, trusted and independent resource for those in Europe’s startup and tech world; a source of news, information and analysis, but also a channel for discovery – sifting and sharing the best events, content and networks that already exist. We want to explore all that it takes to build good companies; organisations that work for their employees, their customers and the places they operate in, as well as their shareholders. And, perhaps most importantly of all, we want to put our readers at the heart of that – we want to meet you, we want to write about you, we want to share your points of view even though we may sometimes disagree with you. We want to help grow a new economy in Europe that will support us all. Source

You have to still ‘keep taste and judgement’: How companies are actually putting agentic AI to work self.__wrap_b(":R1actq6:",0.7)
Most companies have now moved well beyond only using AI chatbots — such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini — in their day-to-day operations. They’re now using agentic AI, which rather than just generating text, can search databases, send emails and analyse company data to automate workflows and complete tasks. Agentic AI startups in Europe have raised a staggering €7.9bn this year, already surpassing the €7bn raised last year, according to Sifted data.
Inside the ‘secondaries arms race’: How employee liquidity is becoming fundamental to private businesses self.__wrap_b(":R1actq6:",0.7)
The research is clear, companies are stalling IPOs and staying private for longer than ever before. In 2014, the average startup went public after spending 6.9 years in the private market, according to data from research company Morningstar Indexes and PitchBook. By 2024, this had risen to 11 years. This global phenomenon has real impacts for employees who are waiting much longer to cash in their companies shares, typically sold during a traditional IPO or M&A.
